Our Mission

We're on a mission to restore the American dream by figuring out how to build quality homes families can actually afford…on one income.

That's it. We don't have it all figured out yet, but we’re committed to solving this housing crisis.

Where We're At Right Now

For the next year we won’t be putting a shovel in the ground until we have a solid plan. We're searching the nation, studying every construction method, interviewing builders and tradespeople, digging into zoning and land costs, regulation, local materials sourcing and testing ideas that could actually bring the price of a home down without cutting corners on quality. We plan to start building a prototype of one of our flagship plans in mid-2027.

You can learn along with us on our YouTube channel and blog.

The Problem

1: Fewer families can afford a single-family home than at almost any point in US history. The solutions most builders and governments have come up with aren’t solving the root of the problem. Government subsidies shift the cost around instead of removing it. Many builders respond by cutting material quality or shifting entirely to multifamily and townhomes.

This video we put together explains what we believe are the 10 reasons why houses are unaffordable today. Most media outlets, builders and politicians are usually only mentioning 2 or 3 of those, ignoring everything else. And a housing market crash won’t fix it either because the same factors driving up the price will only be asleep and resurface a few years later and then everyone will be talking about housing being unaffordable all over again.

2: There's also a second half of the problem nobody talks about enough: even if homes got cheaper, a lot of families don't have the income to support a mortgage on one paycheck. This has pushed many families to rely on both Dad and Mom to have to work full-time. So, we need to raise individual incomes, not through government regulation, but through encouraging people to start businesses.

3: A third problem we’re addressing has to do with the dysfunctional elements of many of today’s house designs. Most builders and architects aren’t thinking of how a family functions emotionally, psychologically and relationally in various spaces. They’re thinking more about cost vs. value opposed to how families actually want and need to live. They’re also not thinking through who the house is for and instead are building houses for everybody. And when you try to appeal to everybody, you serve nobody.

Our Solution So Far

On the building side, we're researching how to bring home prices down through smarter designs and styles, efficient floor plans that don't waste space but have enough where it matters, relationships with local suppliers and manufacturers to cut material costs, refinement of construction processes that reduce waste and labor hours and more…

On the income side, our coaching venture, Freelance Family Man, helps dads build an online service business, so they have a real path to raising their income.

Due to macro-economic factors that are out of our control, we believe bringing the cost to build a house down is part of the solution but not enough and that’s why we are also helping bring a family’s income up.

Lower the cost of your house, even for a growing family, to under $400k. Raise your income to $120,000. Those two things meet in the middle, and that's where homeownership becomes comfortable again for a family that wants to live on one income.

This was an important goal for us because we wanted to homeschool our kids. My wife hasn’t needed to earn income in 10 years since she was pregnant with our first. She works hard homeschooling our kids and managing our home life. She wanted to stay home. I wanted to make that possible. So, I started a service business in 2016 and have been able to provide for my family on one income ever since.

And to address the third problem (dysfunctional house layouts): When you’re home more, living in the right house becomes even more important. Things about the house layout or features that wouldn’t bug you if Mom, Dad and the kids are gone most days will start to bug you.

Our houses will be thoughtfully designed to create comfort and function for those families that are homebodies like us.

We already have a solution to help dads raise their income, we’re in the process of drafting floor plans for families, and we’re still working on the solution to bring the cost of a house down.

Soon enough, all 3 of these projects will merge and our mission to get your family into a comfortable house will be realized.

Why This Matters to Us

This isn't theoretical for us. We built our own custom home in 2023. We hired the wrong builder and it was disastrous, so we took over the build halfway through. That’s when I dove into the deep end with home construction. At the time I was just a video marketing consultant in my other business. That experience birthed the construction side of Finding Home. And you can read all about that home build story on our blog.

We stretched beyond what we can afford to try and grab that American dream of home ownership and fell flat on our face. We don't want another family to go through what we went through, and most of what we learned points to problems in the industry that can actually be fixed.

Your family doesn’t need a big house, just a well-designed one, on a bit of land, that you can comfortably afford. Property ownership is key to having to liberty this country was built for.
